WHO CAN JOIN?

The Dover Spouses' Club (DSC) is a united organization open to all spouses of active duty, guard, reserves, and retired military members of all military branches, as well as spouses of civilians working for the Armed Forces at DAFB.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO JOIN?

Dues cover a membership period of August through May

E1 - E4/ GS1 - GS5 $18.00   •   E5 - E7/ O1 - O2/ GS6 - GS10 $27.00   •   E8 - E9/ O3/GS11 - GS12 $36.00   •   O4 and up/ GS 13 and up $45.00

WHERE DO THE DUES GO?

They go right back to you in our monthly socials.  New members are welcome to join at any time during the year, the cost may be prorated.  Many of the monthly socials are free, though additional costs may be incurred, depending on the social.  Any additional costs will be stated on the invitation.

I PAID MY DUES. WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY MORE FOR THE SOCIALS?

By law, we may never use money from our welfare fundraisers to pay for our social events, so your annual membership dues are used to pay for special entertainment, door prizes, and decorations, and to offset event costs for members at our social functions. The fee for the socials is simply payment for the meal served at that event.

HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE TO VOLUNTEER?

Because our primary goal is to serve the Dover Air Force Base community, as well as support local and national charities, we always have plenty of volunteering opportunities.  Families of military members often feel that volunteering helps them establish ties with their community and gives them a sense of belonging.  With that said, membership in the DSC never obligates you to volunteer.

If, however, you would like to participate, you will have many opportunities including:

• Our primary Welfare fundraiser is the DSC Craft Show, and we need many volunteers to ensure it runs smoothly
• Our scholarship committee awards thousands of dollars to dependents of military members of DAFB
• Operation Cookie Drop during December, which brings care packages to those Airmen who can’t go home to spend time with their families over the holidays
• The DSC oversees the Airman's Attic, which is run entirely by volunteers
• Serving on the DSC Board with positions on either the welfare or social side

Whether you choose to volunteer or not, just being a member of the DSC means you are contributing to the strength of the group.  We hope you’ll join us.

DO I HAVE TO ATTEND ALL OF THE EVENTS?

Once a month, the DSC sponsors a social event for all members. While we would love to have you, you are never obligated to attend any social function or event.  This year, we’ve got many exciting events planned.  We try to accommodate all members by holding both daytime and evening events.  

HOW CAN I MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE DSC?

A great way to make a difference is by joining the DSC board or becoming a POC for a Member Sub-Club! The DSC Board is composed of six elected officers and fourteen appointed officers and the Craft & Holiday Show always needs volunteers at the ready!

WHY SHOULD I JOIN THE DSC?

Where else can you…

• Learn what’s going on throughout the base without relying on your spouse to bring the news home to you (or not!)
• Make lasting friendships in an evening
• Get moral support from folks who know exactly what you are going through when you move 7 times in 8 summers
• Get first dibs on that GREAT find at the annual Craft & Holiday Show just by volunteering a few hours
• Make a difference in your base and local community through many charitable activities

Whether you are new to the Air Force family, a veteran of this lifestyle or a retired member’s spouse, there’s a lot in it for you!
